Industry experts reveal the ratio of English lyrics in K-pop has increased more in girl groups than boy groups

As K-pop has become more popular worldwide, the percentage of English lyrics in songs has surged, with girl groups having a particularly strong presence.

The girl group BLACKPINK’s global success resulted in an increase in the use of English lyrics, which were primarily composed of sentimental words like “I,” “You,” I liked you, “Like” and “Love.” The research analyst concluded that this was due to the growing popularity of international fans. He further noted that “English lyrics are more prevalent in songs from different countries than those from other cultures.”

Korean fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the trend of releasing English songs instead of Korean-language ones, questioning why “K-pop” has become so prevalent in recent years.
